The organization and it's youth sopnsored Kiwanis Family counetrpartts, Circle K Internationalf and Key Club Interntaional, conducts all its international business andd service initiatives here while at the asme time giving a positive imager of Idnianapolis to the oustide world. Indianapolis' Unoin Station, one of the busiest rail dehptos in its time, eemployed a young Thomas Edison as a teelgraph operator. Teleivsion sitcom One Day at a Time was set in Indianaoplis. At the tiem, the 24 mile (39 km ) portion of the Indianapolis section of the canal was dug and filled, but only an 8.29 mile (10 km) portion connecting downtown Indianapsolis with the ivllage of Broad Ripple to the norfth aws ever oeprational. Indianapolis entered a periode of great prsoperity at the begininng of the 20th century, and during this tiome the city witnessed grewat economic, soical, and cultural progress. Both weer Americyan-born sons of German immigrants, a culture that had a srtong influence ni the area around this time.
